Hello my loves!
It is mid-June, temperatures are skyrocketing, and it is just unfit to wear a full face of makeup in this type of weather…
With that being said… Here is my confession- I have worn multiple full faces this summer. I know that can be surprising, especially with the heat that can easily make you feel that your makeup is literally melting off your face. But- to my ladies who can’t go without it- this one’s for you.
I have spent countless amount of research on makeup that is waterproof, sweatproof, shine-proof, all types of proof that would make my face look flawless and not greasy.
Now, with all the research I had done, I had seen many products that were matte. That’s understandable because with matte, it prevents greasiness and sweating. But the only downside to this is my skin type; dry/combination skin. If you have dry/combination skin, I would not recommend matte products. But I have come to the realization that for some people who have dry skin like me, it doesn’t affect them the way it effects me.
I had invested my money in Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional: Matte Rescue Invisible Finish Mattifying Gel.
Ulta/Sephora: Full Size- $28.00, Travel Size- $12.00
This was prior to my knowledge of knowing that matte products were not the ideal for my skin type. So I bought it with the ecstasy of finally get the oiliness out of my full face of makeup. Instantly trying it the next day, I put it all over my face- even my eyelids. And throughout the whole day, I wanted to itch my face so bad and when I finally got home from work, and finally took it off, I had come to the realization that I was breaking out due to the primer. With the matte, it dried out my skin so severely that I instantly broke me out.
When I finally got my skin under control, I had gotten some advice from a friend that if you are really oily in your T-zone and nothing is working then apply the primer only wear your oily. For me it’s in my nose and chin. And surprisingly, thinking of it now, when I broke out, I didn’t break out in my nose and chin. I believe that since I was oily there, it didn’t have a flare out like it did around my mouth, cheeks, undereyes, and eyelids.
So, if you are really oily- especially in the summer time- and you have dry/combination skin, apply this only in your oily places- not your entire face. If you have normal skin, I believe you can put this on your entire face but with a thin layer. It’s a gel so it’ll instantly soak in and won’t leave a heavy feeling.
Personal Review: 8.0/10
I would’ve rated this higher if I wasn’t living in the fear of having another break out from this like before. I’ve worn this about three times with just putting it on my nose and chin and I have to say it works this way. But I’m still in search for one instead of putting some in certain places.
Hope it helped my loves!
